Patricia Walton has been a master metalsmith in gold, silver and platinum for almost 30 years. Patricia graduated Cum Laude in 1976, from Southwestern College in Kansas, with a major in small metal.  She has continued her studies by attending workshops, seminars and classes throughout the country taught by such jewelry artists as Charles Lewten Brain, Helen Betty Longhi, and Thomas Mann. Patricia taught for two years at the Arts Magnet High School in Dallas as well as classes in her own studio and in various art centers.  She was one of the original partners in the Utah Designer Craft Gallery in Salt Lake City and has participated in local, regional and national juried craft fairs, including ACC Shows, Park City Art Festival and the Utah Art Festival.  She has been commissioned by the Governor of Utah, the President of the University of Utah as well as to create many other custom pieces.

In 1997 Patricia decided to pursue a childhood dream and add the art of doll making to her creative endeavors.  She recently received her Master of Dollmaking from the Doll Artisan Guild and is working on her Grand Masters.  She also has her teaching certification from Seeley’s in antique reproduction dolls and in modern dolls from Bell.  She has taught doll making in her studio in Highland in addition to being a guest instructor in other studios.  Her dolls have received best of category, and blue ribbons in local and national show. Her first original porcelain won first in an original doll sculpting competition.

In April of 1999, Patricia came across the amazing new product, Art Clay.  While picking up supplies at a local ceramics supply company she saw a flier advertising Art Clay and Art Clay classes. She immediately signed up and completed the Level I and II Instructors Courses. In July of that same year she was selected as one of the first Senior Instructors for Art Clay in the United States.  In March of 2001, Patricia became Western Director of Education for Art Clay USA. Her duties include teaching, attending trade shows and managing the Senior and Certified Instructors located between the Mississippi River and the West Coast of the United States.  Patricia received her Master’s training in Art Clay in Japan, under the direction of Mr. Araki. Patricia’s Art Clay pendant, entitled “Pearls Delight”, received Honorable Mention in the 5th Pearl Jewelry Design Contest sponsored by Uchiumu Village, “Hot Keikaku Iinkai” committee.

In May of 2002, Patricia’s amulet, “Dreamkeeper” won the singular NHK Educational prize in the 2002 Aida Chemical Industries Silver Accessories Contest held in Japan. NHK is Japan’s largest broadcasting company.

As Western Director of Education, Patricia traveled to trade show, conferences and conventions to demonstrate Art Clay, she also teach classes through out the country as well as offer classes in her studio in Utah.  On July 1, 2004  Patricia began a new phase as the Director of Art Clay Studio Program.
